Erectile Dysfunction
Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a more common condition than most people may think. If you are having symptoms of erectile dysfunction that are impacting your relationship or your sex life, you should schedule an appointment with Dr. Hodgins. If you suffer from erectile dysfunction, you are not alone. Over 30 million men in the United States suffer from erectile dysfunction and it is more common as men age. There are excellent treatment options available.
Erectile dysfunction can manifest itself in different ways:
- Complete inability to achieve an erection
- Occasional ability to achieve an erection.
- Difficulty maintaining an erection long enough to complete intimacy.
Erectile dysfunction is often a side effect of an underlying condition. Most men are likely to suffer from erectile dysfunction if they:
- Have cardiovascular disease.
- Have diabetes.
- Have high blood pressure
- Are obese or overweight.
- Suffer from stress, anxiety or depression.
- Have low testosterone.
- Have had prostate cancer treatment.
What are some of the options for treatment of Erectile dysfunction?
- Oral medications such a sildenafil (Viagra) or tadalafil (Cialis).
- Vacuum pump.
- Intercavernosal injections (medication delivered to the penis directly).
- AMS 700 penile implant (surgical procedure to cure ED).
If you experience the inability to get or maintain an erection, premature ejaculation or other concerns related to sexual health, call to schedule an appointment with Dr. Hodgins. There may be an underlying health concern that needs to be addressed in addition to treating the ED symptoms.
Erectile dysfunction is private matter. Dr. Hodgins and her staff make your privacy and comfort a priority and will treat you with dignity. Dr. Hodgins will discuss treatment options she will help determine the best option for you.
