Low Testosterone

Low testosterone or hypogonadism occurs when the testicles no longer produce enough testosterone. There are many health conditions and some medications that can cause low T. Men who have had treatment for testicular cancer also may experience low testosterone. It is important to have a complete evaluation for the cause of low T in your body. If you are diagnosed with low T and are placed on medication to raise your testosterone, you will need regular monitoring of your blood work to ensure that your testosterone is at a safe goal range AND that other parameters such as your red blood cell count and estrogen level are at safe levels. Often, your insurance will cover the medication and you may have little to no out of pocket expense.
